If you are using oxygen at home, noise is usually the first thing you notice and the last thing you get used to. The Yuwell 9F-5B Stationary Oxygen Concentrator was built to run quietly, at 39 dB(A) measured two metres away, while still giving you the full 5 litres per minute of continuous flow. It is the quietest stationary concentrator we stock, and it is not the dearest.

Most home concentrators sit somewhere between 45 and 55 decibels. The 9F-5B is rated under 42 decibels with a meter 10 cm from the case, and 39 decibels at two metres, which is about the distance from a bedside table to your pillow.

Continuous flow
You set the rate on the flowmeter at the front of the cabinet, in half litre steps, and the unit holds oxygen purity above 90% all the way to 5 litres per minute. It is continuous flow, so oxygen is delivered whether you are breathing in or out. That is what most overnight prescriptions call for.

Leave at least 30 cm of clear space around the cabinet so the vents can draw air. Keep it out of direct sun and away from heaters. A carpeted surface or an anti-vibration mat will make it quieter again.
Simple to run
Set the flow, set the timer, and leave it to run
The flowmeter sits on the front of the cabinet where you can read it standing up. You set the float to the rate your doctor has advised, and that is it. The LCD above it shows running hours and has a timer, so the unit can switch itself off after a set session instead of running on longer than you need.

Looking after it
Two filters, once a month, and that is the job
The 9F-5B has two filters, and both need to be cleaned or replaced once a month, or sooner if the room is dusty. The air inlet filter slides out from the side of the cabinet, rinses in warm water with a mild detergent, and goes back in once it is completely dry. Never run the unit with a wet filter or with a filter missing.
That is the only routine maintenance there is. A dirty filter makes the machine work harder, which uses more power and makes more noise, so it is worth keeping on top of. For anything beyond the filters, our technical services team can service the unit here in Australia.

Oxygen accelerates combustion. Do not smoke, use open flame or use aerosols near the unit or the tubing, and keep it at least 1.5 metres from heaters and other heat sources.
This device is not intended to be life supporting. Oxygen therapy should only be used as prescribed by a physician or healthcare professional, and flow rates should not be changed without their advice. Keep a backup oxygen supply for power outages if you depend on oxygen continuously.

Yuwell rate it under 42 dB(A) with a meter 10 cm from the case, and 39 dB(A) at two metres. Most 5 litre home units sit between 45 and 55 decibels. Decibels are logarithmic, so the gap is bigger in practice than the numbers make it look. Can it run continuously, overnight and around the clock?+
Yes. A stationary concentrator is designed for continuous duty, unlike a portable running on batteries. It draws air, separates out the nitrogen and delivers oxygen for as long as it has power, so it can run overnight and through the day if your prescription calls for it. Keep the vents clear and the filters clean and there is no time limit to worry about.
How much electricity does it use?+
Most oxygen concentrators use roughly the same amount of electricity as a refrigerator. The 9F-5B draws 400VA, or around 0.4 kilowatts while it is running, so eight hours a night works out near 3.2 kilowatt hours a day. Multiply that by the rate on your power bill for your own figure, and check the user manual for the full consumption details of your unit. Is this a continuous flow or pulse dose concentrator?+
Continuous flow. It delivers a steady, set rate of oxygen whether you are breathing in or out, which is what most overnight prescriptions require. Pulse dose devices only release oxygen when they sense a breath, which is efficient for daytime mobility but not recommended for sleeping. Do I need a prescription to buy one?+
A prescription is not formally required in Australia, but oxygen should only be used under the guidance of a certified healthcare provider. We recommend talking to your prescribing doctor about your device options and your flow rate before you buy, so you know the unit suits your oxygen needs. What is the humidifier bottle for, and do I have to use it?+
Continuous flow oxygen dries out the nose and throat over long sessions. The humidifier bottle bubbles the oxygen through sterile or distilled water on the way out, which makes extended use far more comfortable. One is included with the unit along with the adapter tubing, and replacements are in our oxygen consumables range. Follow your clinician's advice on whether to use it.
What does the warranty cover?+
Three years or 9,000 hours of operation, whichever comes first, on the machine. Given the compressor is rated past 30,000 hours, the warranty is cover for the early life of the device rather than a guide to how long it will last. Servicing and repairs are handled by our own team in Australia.
Can I hire one before committing to a purchase?+

How do I know a 5 litre unit is the right size for me?+
Your prescription decides it. If you have been prescribed up to 5 litres per minute of continuous flow, the 9F-5B covers the full range. If you need more than 5, look at a higher output unit such as the GCE OC-E100, which reaches 10 litres per minute. TRAVELING WITH A OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR
The FAA allows these devices on board most aircrafts. If they have a FAA approval, they should allow the oxygen concentrator on board with the supply of the MSDS document.
IMPORTANT:It is the responsibility of the patient to check with the specific airline carrier when traveling domestically and internationally. We strongly advise to check the airline website or contact them directly around what they specifically require to allow you to travel onboard with this device to avoid any issues or delays in your travel.
Just because a oxygen concentrator is FAA approved, does not automatically mean a customer will be allowed to take the machine on the plane. It is up to the discretion of every flight, airline, airline pilot etc if the machines or batteries are allowed to be carried on board.
When traveling with the device, be sure to bring the AC Power Supply and the External Battery Charger (if you have one) with you. It is advisable to use external power (i.e., plugged into a wall) whenever it is available to keep the battery fully charged. Bring enough charged batteries with you to power your concentrator for no less than 150% of the expected duration of your flight, ground time before and after the flight, security screenings, connections and a conservative estimate for unanticipated delays. Note that per FAA regulations, all extra batteries are to be individually wrapped and protected to prevent short circuits and carried in carry-on baggage onboard aircraft only. The AC Power Supply cannot be used to charge the device battery when onboard aircraft. If traveling by bus, train or boat, contact your carrier to find out about power port availability.
